Influences
Media is the major influence of what’s in and what’s hot to almost all of us. Endorsements, billboards, newspapers, magazines – these are just some of the forms of media that greatly influence our sense of fashion.
Who dictates fashion? Nobody! But it is “us” who let others influence us. These forms of media just gives us examples of what may look good and what is required to avoid looking like a big disaster during events when we need to look our best.
For some special occasions, we often buy magazines to give us an idea of what will suit us and the occasion we will attend to. This is a perfect example of the influence of media to our sense of fashion.
When we see new posters or ads with our favorite artists wearing new types of clothes, we tend to mimic them and buy the same clothes and have the same style. A lot of times, we forget that not all clothes can fit anyone. Even though we have a brown complexion, we still wear clothes with colors that can even make us look even darker, which sometimes make us look gloomy. We also try to use the same make up like the artists do even though the type of make up that will look good on you depend on the shape of your face, the clothes you wear and the occasion.
A lot people do not know that we can actually dictate our own fashion. Because sometimes, being able to carry yourself confidently in a simple dress, matched with your attitude and personality, can be considered real and good fashion.
